Unless you've been living under a rock for the past few weeks it won't have escaped your notice that Marvel's eagerly-awaited spacefaring sequel Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is exploding into cinemas across the UK on April 28. And as you might expect, the film is being supported with a plethora of tie-in collectibles – including action figures, plushes, costumes, mugs, books and other miscellanous goodies – all designed to drain your wallet of any remaining cash after you've forked out for tickets to see the film at your local multiplex.

Sony has taken the wraps off dramatic new TV backlighting technologies that it believes will elevate Mini LED above OLED (even QD OLED) in the picture performance stakes.

The company has developed new panel driver tech that it suggests will enable Mini LED screens to offer more dynamic HDR, delivered with greater precision. Intrigued, we travelled to Sony HQ, Tokyo, for a closer look.

Champagne corks are popping at Hannspree's HQ today following the news that it had ranked second in a report of TV sales in Ireland. According to the report, by industry analyst Meko, only Samsung managed to outperform Hannspree in Ireland during Q3 of 2011, with Philips, Sony and LG all trailing behind.

Despite reports to the contrary, a survey of 2,000  ‘music lovers’ conducted by Sony Europe and music download service Qobuz, has found that album sales are performing strongly. Statistics show that where the Hi-Res Audio version of an album is available, 84 per cent of consumers will choose it rather than a compressed single.
