LG announces Direct View LED 'extreme home cinema' displays

LG has launched a range of Direct View LED displays (aka Micro LED) targeted at 'high-end' residential installations.

The lineup, dubbed DVLED Extreme Home Cinema, claims to deliver 'superb performance with exceptional brightness, years of residential lifespan, incredible viewing angles and a very high colour gamut – even in rooms with lots of windows and high ambient light.'

With installation flexibility in mind, LG's DVLED displays come in various shapes, sizes and resolutions. The company says its new custom installer dealer program (you can't buy these screens on the high street...) offers over 30 packages, including 16:9 ratio from 81in to 325in, and 32:9 ratio 'UltraStrech' video walls reaching 196in.

Resolutions vary from Full HD to 8K. Each pixel gets its own individual LED, allowing for pixel-level control.

LG hasn't bothered to announce DVLED pricing (so expect it to be 'premium') but does reveal buyers will benefit from on-site help from an 'LG field engineer' during installation, on-site 'health checks' twice a year for the first three years, remote monitoring by their installer, and a five-year warranty.

It values this free sales support at around $30,000, but it isn't offered for DVLED models that are 'pre-built and packaged.'

The screens are supplied with an external Controller box, which integrates LG's WebOS smart platform, and come in a flight case.

LG's DVLED can be considered a rival to Samsung's Micro LED display business, which launched its first 'consumer' model last year.
