TPS to hold Pioneer vs Panasonic vs Samsung plasma face-off

AV expert promises In-depth day of calibration tips and interactive demos

AV retailer The Perfect Signal (TPS) is holding a plasma showcase event on June 1 that will pit the last-generation Pioneer Kuro against Panasonic's new 'beyond reference' ZT65 and Samsung's F8500.

TPS' Craig Maden explains the reasoning behind the event: '2013 is likely to be the most significant year ever in the history of plasma TV. Panasonic and Samsung have pulled out all the stops to finally lay to rest the legacy of the legendary Pioneer Kuro. This is a unique opportunity to witness the Pioneer KRP600M, the Panasonic ZT65 and the Samsung F8500 side-by-side, all professionally calibrated to ISF/THX standards for maximum performance.'

Other models in the 2013 Panasonic Viera plasma TV range, including ST60, GT60 and VT65 screens, will also form part of interactive demonstrations by a professional calibrator.

'In a friendly, open manner, we will examine topics such as greyscale, gamut, CMS and gamma,' says Maden. 'We will show the differences calibration can make, and dispel some of the myths surrounding TV technology, compression, artefacts and more.'

Attendees are also promised a world exclusive launch of the new models of 3D3 Universal 3D TV Eyewear.

Adds Maden: 'Above all it is a day to meet fellow enthusiasts, and the TPS team, in a relaxed yet informative atmosphere which should assist you in making informed decisions about any potential purchase.'

Registration for the event, held at the Village Hotel in Walsall from 9am to 5pm, is open now, but numbers are limited. Visit http://registration.tps.uk.com/ for more info.
