Tesco and HBO have announced that fans of the award-winning fantasy series Game of Thrones who weren't able to watch the latest run on Sky Atlantic will be able to buy the show's third season on Blinkbox from July 15th.

The Tesco-owned streaming service will be the first digital retailer to offer every episode from the hit show's third season to buy - months ahead of any DVD and Blu-ray release (which, if past form is anything to go by, could be as far away as next March). It will also mark the first time that high-definition content has been available on the service, with the previous two seasons - currently available to stream in SD - being upgraded to HD at the same time.

Blinkbox CEO Michael Comish stated, 'Game of Thrones is the TV show of the moment and we expect demand for the third series to be high. Whether you have heard of the series recentl thanks to the buzz around season three or have enjoyed the first two seasons but don't have a Sky subscription, Blinkbox is the place to enjoy this gripping series.'

The first two seasons of Game of Thrones are available to purchase now in standard definition on Blinkbox, priced £1.89 per episode or £17.99 for an entire season. There is no word yet on the pricing for HD content.
