Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has announced that it will be celebrating the 30th anniversary of the 1984 classic Ghostbusters with a series of special events and home entertainment releases. The highlight of which will be the return of the original film to cinemas – restored and remastered in 4K - for one day only across the UK on October 28th.

In anticipation of the theatrical release (which is being handled by Park Circus) the studio is also releasing a new Ghostbusters: 30th Anniversary Edition Blu-ray on September 1st, alongside a two-disc Blu-ray boxset which also includes a Ghostbusters II: 25th Anniversary Edition Blu-ray (the first time the sequel has ever been released on the format).

The studio claims that both Blu-rays will come 'loaded with exclusive bonus materials, including revealing conversations with director Ivan Reitman and Dan Aykroyd, as well as never-before-seen deleted scenes from Ghostbusters II'. The Ghostbusters: 30th Anniversary Edition Blu-ray will also include the original music video for Ghostbusters by Ray Parker Jr., in addition to all previously released legacy content, a commentary and an interactive 'Slimer Mode', offering fans a 'picture-in-picture graphical viewing experience'. Ghostbusters II will include the music video for On Our Own by Bobby Brown.

Sony Pictures is also collaborating with the likes of LEGO, Mattell and Funko to produce new merchandise to celebrate the occasion, while Legacy Recordings/Sony Music Entertainment will be celebrating the anniversary of the iconic soundtrack with multiple collectible vinyl releases.
