Cambridge Audio updates TV2 and TV5 soundbase speakers

Revised DSP, greater power and HDMI connectivity among tweaks

Sonic guru Cambridge Audio has revamped its TV2 and TV5 Bluetooth soundbase speaker line to bolster both performance and ease of use.

The optical and analogue audio inputs of the TV2 (£200) and TV5 (£300) are now joined by an ARC-capable HDMI output, while a revised DSP engine has, we're told, lowered distortion and resulted in a 'louder, crisper and fuller sound.'

Onboard power from the soundbases' digital amps has been doubled, too, in partnership with an optimised signal path. The driver arrays – mixing downfiring woofers (1 x 6.5in on the TV2, 2 x 6.5in on the TV5) with BMR midrange units – remain the same, although the bass units are now located within independent sealed enclosures.

Additional tweaks include a new remote control, internal power supplies and a 'seamless' cabinet design.

Both the Cambridge Audio TV2 and TV5 will be available in October.
