Blade Runner 2049 is coming home

The critically-acclaimed blockbuster sci-fi sequel makes its 4K Blu-ray debut in January...

Warner Bros. has announced the US home entertainment release date for Blade Runner 2049. According to the official announcement from Warner Bros. director Denis Villenueve's spectacular science-fiction sequel will be released on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, 3D Blu-ray and DVD on January 16.

The lack of any mention of Dolby Vision (something that was specifically referenced in the same studio's recent announcement for the 4K release of Stephen King's IT) would appear to indicate that the 4K platter will only offer HDR10. Dolby Atmos soundtracks will be featured on both the 4K and Blu-ray versions of the film.

Confirmed bonus features include eight behind-the-scenes featurettes (Designing the World of Blade Runner 2049, To Be Human: Casting Blade Runner 2049, Blade Runner 101: Blade Runners, Blade Runner 101: The Replicant Evolution, Blade Runner 101: The Rise of Wallace Corp, Blade Runner 101: Welcome to 2049, Blade Runner 101: Joi and Blade Runner 101: Within the Skies) and a trio of Prologue shorts directed by Luke Scott (2022: Black Out, 2036: Nexus Dawn and 2048: Nowhere to Run).

Sony Pictures (who handles the title in the UK) has yet to announce a release date on this side of the Atlantic, but it looks like we should expect to see the Blade Runner 2049 touch down on disc here on February 2.
