Sci-fi classic Alien to hatch on 4K Blu-ray this April?

While there's been no official announcement yet from studio Fox (we've asked for confirmation), it appears Ridley Scott's 1979 sci-fi horror Alien is getting a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray release this April – unless retailer Zavvi is playing a long-term April Fool...

Zavvi is listing the 4K release as available for pre-order with an April 1st release date. The 'TBC' artwork (pictured below) dubs the Ultra HD release as Alien: 40th Anniversary.

An April 4K debut would make sense considering Alien is being re-released in UK cinemas this March to celebrate its 40th anniversary, via distributor Park Circus. As reported by Seenit, Ridley Scott has supervised the film's 4K restoration in conjunction with post-production house Company 3.

No further details (such as a possible Atmos audio remix or HDR10+ grade, whether this is the director's cut or theatrical – or both) are currently available, although if Fox is letting Alien loose on 4K Blu-ray this year, we're excited...
