KEF expands its Architectural Range, debuts first flush-fit in-ceiling models

KEF has announced four new speakers in its in-wall/in-ceiling Architectural Range, including its first ever flush-mount models that promise to 'hide your speakers, not your sound.’

Leading the new quartet and priced £7,000 per piece is the THX-certified Ci3160REF-THX, which offers system builders a smaller alternative to KEF's Ci5160REF-THX flagship. An in-wall model for LCR or surround use (pictured above), it flanks its 11th-generation 5.25in UniQ driver with two 6.5in woofers. The brushed aluminium baffle is given a 'luxurious' anodised black finish, offset by its copper Uni-Q driver array and Shadow Flare anti-diffraction surround.

Also THX-certified is KEF's new in-ceiling Ci160RR-THX, which uses a 6.5in Uni-Q driver and is described as 'an ideal speaker to be the heart of any home theatre system. Priced £500 per piece, it adds another option to the existing mid-range Ci-R series.

The new flush-mount models are both in-ceiling units ideal for Dolby Atmos installations – the square Ci130QSfl and round Ci130QRfl (pictured) use a 5.25in Uni-Q driver and are supplied with paintable magnetic grilles. KEF says they are 'easy to install as part of the plastering process, and feature frameless designs and spring-clip speaker terminals .

The Ci130QSfl is priced at £370 each; the Ci130QRfl at £350. Both speakers, and the Ci160RR-THX and Ci3160REF-THX, will be available from April.

Says KEF: 'A chameleon of sound, the KEF Architectural Range offers the ultimate solution for creating anything from high-end home theatre to home-filling multiroom systems.'
