Buy a Samsung smart TV, blag £200 worth of premium app access

Samsung has launched 'Smart Start', a tie-in with video-on-demand, music and fitness apps, designed to give new owners of its smart TVs a taste of the premium content high life.

Available to buyers of the brand's 2020/2021 smart TV range, the promotion amounts to over '£200 worth' of exclusive offers.

Launch partners are Rakuten TV, BritBox, YouTube Premium, Tidal and Fiit, but Samsung says Smart Start will be an ongoing proposition, with other content providers added (and some presumably being removed).

It also says the idea behind the promotion is to give its customers a better understanding of what a modern smart TV platform can deliver:

'The Smart Start platform allows customers the unique opportunity to try out a variety of new premium apps during the initial months they own the TV. It also gives them the chance to experience content in a way they may not have before, from watching movies in 4K HDR10+ to listening to music in Dolby Atmos sound quality.'

The initial Smart Start deals are as follows:

  • Rakuten TV: five free UHD movie rentals
  • Britbox: three-month pass to the UK streaming service
  • Tidal: four-month free subscription to Tidal's Hi-Fi music-on-demand service
  • YouTube Premium: three-month access to YouTube's ad-free platform, with content downloads to mobile devices
  • Fiit: Three-month access to the on-demand fitness workout app

All except the Rakuten offer are available to new subscribers only.

Smart Start will run until January 6, 2022. Customers can view available offers and voucher codes on a new 2020/2021 Smart TV (excluding second-hand and ex-display models) within the pre-installed Samsung Promotion app. See Samsung's website for more info.
