Breaking Bad: Season Three

It's been a long wait, but the best TV show around is back for more on DVD

It’s not easy being a Breaking Bad fan in the UK. Not only has the show all but disappeared from the airwaves, but the UK branch of Sony Pictures is almost a year behind its US counterpart in bringing it to DVD – and doesn’t even offer a Blu-ray version on this side of the Atlantic. Thankfully, this four-disc release goes some way to making up for all of the difficulties.

The anamorphic 1.78:1 transfers are rich and detailed, up there with the best TV material you'll ever see on DVD, while the Dolby Digital 5.1 sonics are fairly enveloping (although dialogue feels a little buried in the mix at times). Each of the platters in this set is also loaded down with bonus goodies. Not only do six of the episodes get cast and crew commentaries, but there's also a plethora of behind-the-scenes featurettes including Inside Breaking Bad promos, Mini Video Podcasts, a visit to the Writers' Room, a look at the show's music and a whole lot more. And after all of that there's still a bunch of deleted scenes, a gag reel, unused footage and even the mysterious Pizza of Destiny: Cranston's Greatest Shot waiting to be uncovered.
