Tannoy announces a new range of subwoofers

New models mate high power Class D amplification to opposing drivers

Tannoy has released details of the new TS2 range of subwoofers. The two strong line up intend to deliver "the deepest, tightest and loudest bass response at the price." To this end all three models make use of high power Class D amplification and opposed drivers.

The smaller £429 TS2.10 has a pair of ten inch drivers powered by a 300w amplifier while the larger TS2.12 uses a pair of twelve inch drivers and a 500w internal amplifier for £549. Both models make use of an auxiliary bass radiator system which increases the radiating area of the subwoofers in a relatively cost effective fashion. Tannoy says that this approach maintains the speed and agility of the older Tannoy subwoofers whilst substantially increasing the low end impact.

To make best use of this added heft, both models are constructed from 25mm thick MDF for a more robust and non resonant cabinet. The polymer cone feet first seen on the original TS range are retained. Tannoy has also simplified the controls but both models still feature line level inputs and loop though as well as volume, phase and crossover settings.

The subs are finished as standard in a satin grey with gloss black and white finishes available. Both models go on sale this spring.
