Optoma unveils pair of 4K HDR projectors

UHD60 and UHD65 to offer bigscreen Ultra HD at affordable prices

Optoma has announced its debut 4K projectors, the UHD60 and UHD65. Both models use 4K DLP technology and support HDR 10 playback, making them perfect partners for Ultra HD Blu-ray.

When it comes to feature differences between the two, the step-up UHD65 (pictured above, right) offers PureMotion frame-interpolation processing, and claims a 1,200,000:1 contrast ratio from its 2,200 Lumens lamp.

The UHD60 (left) claims a contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1 and a brightness rating of 3,000 Lumens, making it more suitable for use in rooms with a level of ambient light.

Shared features across the UHD60 and UHD65 are: dual HDMI inputs (one HDMI 2.0 with support for HDCP 2.2; vertical lens shifting; a 1.6x optical zoom; powered USB for hookup with HDMI streaming devices; integrated 8W speaker system; a Reference mode calibrated for REC.709 accuracy; 15,000-hour claimed lamp-life; 25dB running noise; and a 1.39 – 2.22:1 throw ratio.

The pricing of the two models - £2,500 for the UHD60, and £3,000 for the UHD65, will no doubt catch the eye of projector owners looking for a 4K upgrade. Says Joe Ahmed, Head of Marketing at Optoma EMEA: ‘Without doubt the 4K UHD experience requires the biggest of images, which the two new projectors deliver at an affordable price to home users.’

Optoma joins the likes of BenQ and Acer in releasing 4K projectors using Texas Instruments single-chip DLP 4K solution.

The UHD60 is available now; the UHD65 will follow this August.
