Echostar launches world's slimmest PVR

New HDT-610R packs 500GB HDD and iPlayer and Box Office 365 access

Set-top box maker Echostar has launched a new Freeview HD PVR which it claims is the world's slimmest.

The HDT-610R measures just 14mm high and has been designed to partner ultra-thin TVs. It features a 500GB HDD, twin Freeview HD tuners, Series Link functionality and, via its Ethernet port, access to the BBC iPlayer service. It also offers on-demand content via  Box Office 365.

'We pride ourselves on challenging the status quo to create truly inspirational products,' reckons Rhod Williams, Senior VP and General Manager of EchoStar Europe. 'We’re already inviting consumers to watch their TV anywhere [via the Sling Media toting HDS-600RS Freesat PVR] and now we’re offering them the opportunity to own the slimmest digital TV recorder in the world. The Ultra Slim Box represents the coming of age for the DVR.'

The HDT-610R is available to pre-order online from tomorrow via John Lewis, Amazon and Maplin - you'll need to check those websites for a price, 'cos Echostar hasn't told us yet. It will be in shops at the end of the month.
