Humax has confirmed an over-the-air software upgrade designed to minimise the fan noise on its PVR-9150T and PVR-9300T digital TV recorders.

Its new Smart Fan Control software will ensure that the deck’s fans only start if the PVRs exceed a temperature outside of that necessary for safe operation. After a predetermined time, they will switch off again.

Owners of the PVR-9300T are advised to leave their recorders in stand-by mode overnight between 27th to 29th November. If you have a PVR-9150T, the over-the-air update happens between 5th and 8th December.
Humax is at pains to stress that all of its PVRs manufactured from October 2008 already contain the Smart Fan Control software.
