The Proposition review

Anton van Beek's picture

Director John Hillcoat’s magnificent Australian Western (for lack of a better term) is one of those rare films that you instantly fall in love with and which somehow just gets better with repeat viewings. A brutal and unrelenting vision of a wild and untamed country, Tartan already did a sterling job with The Proposition’s DVD release, but the 2.35:1 1080p encode here blows it away, capturing the desolate, sun-burnt landscapes perfectly. DTS-HD MA and Dolby TrueHD 5.1 mixes work wonders with the film’s ambient effects and superior score. The only real letdown is the lack of the chat track and Meet the Cast... doc that appeared on the DVD.
