Semi-Pro review

Anton van Beek's picture

Taking obvious delight in being let loose amidst the big fashion and lingering sexism of the 1970s, gurning comic actor Will Ferrell plays Jackie Moon, a one-hit chart wonder who has used his wealth to buy and play for an American Basketball Association team. Basically, if you’ve seen Anchorman or Talladega Nights, you know exactly what you’re letting yourself into here. Which is fine for fans, but won’t make converts of those yet to succumb to Ferrell’s comedy charms.
This single-disc release looks great, although the Dolby Digital 5.1EX audio is rather front-heavy. Extras include seven deleted scenes, six behind-the-scenes featurettes, a music video, spoof promo and three trailers.
