Death Note: 2-Disc Edition review

Anton van Beek's picture

Back in HCC #157 we were rather impressed by a new anime series called Death Note, which had just arrived in the UK. The original Japanese manga series actually began back in 2003, which is why we now have a live-action film hitting DVD so soon after the animated series first touched down. It’s actually pretty good too, although the fact that it’s the first of a two-part series means that it doesn’t really wrap anything up at the end. This two-disc set also impresses with an immaculately rendered anamorphic 1.85:1 transfer and atmospheric DD5.1 soundmix. Extras include trailers, Making of… featurette, video diary, press conference footage and a photo gallery. And the DVD comes with a 24page book.
